The Word on Music
Psalm 69:30-32 says “I will praise the name of God
with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. This also shall please the
Lord better than an ox or bullock…the humble shall see this, and be glad: and
your heart shall live that seek God.”
To participate in praise and thanksgiving through music magnifies
God. What does that mean? It means to make God appear bigger than He is. But,
you can’t make God any bigger than He is. He’s so vast the universe could
not contain Him. He set His glory “above” the heavens. How do you make God
bigger? You don’t! But you can make Him appear
bigger in the minds of others.
Music, with praise and thanksgiving, does this.
And this pleases God…it pleases God more than sacrifice. It is an aroma
all it’s own, a sweet fragrance in God’s breath.
“I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with
thanksgiving. This also shall please the Lord better than an ox or bullock…the
humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.”
This also makes the humble glad. Those humble in their lifestyle and
those who’ve been humbled because they were living in pride shall see and be
glad. You can be the source of joy to those humbled and lowly.
“I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with
thanksgiving. This also shall please the Lord better than an ox or bullock…the
humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God.”
And “your heart shall live that seek God.” The phrase “seek God”
is interchangeable with “worshipers”. Your heart, as a worshiper, shall
live. The hearts of others who follow your example into this worship shall live
as they persue God.
You know what? We have failed to see the importance of music in God’s
plan. We have failed to see the impact of music in the kingdom of God. We have
thought music was something for us to enjoy and be entertained with. Thank God
He’s opening our eyes to see music as He sees it.
God bless you as you “praise the name of God with song…and magnify
Him with thanksgiving.”
